Connect Stripe to take payments
Customers pay by card straight into your own Stripe account. Here's how to connect it.
Slate uses Stripe for card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay. The money goes straight into your own Stripe account, and Slate takes no commission on it. Stripe charges its usual card fees. Opening a Stripe account is free.
Connecting your account
- In the sidebar, open Settings, then the Payments tab. Only Admins can see it.
- Click Connect Stripe.
- Sign in to Stripe, or create an account, and accept the connection.
- You come back to Slate with a message that Stripe is connected.
- If the status says Connected · onboarding incomplete, Stripe still needs some details from you. Finish Stripe's form, then click Refresh status.
When the status reads Connected · ready to take payments, your booking page can take card payments. Until then, customers see a message that the studio is finishing setup.
Payouts and refunds
Payouts happen in Stripe, on Stripe's schedule, into the bank account you gave Stripe. You can see payouts and disputes in your Stripe dashboard. You can refund bookings from Slate: see the guide Cancel, refund or move a booking.
Apple Pay and Google Pay
If your booking page sits on your own website, add it once Stripe is ready: under Apple Pay and Google Pay on the same page, enter Your website address and click Save. Apple Pay also needs a small verification file on your website. The page links to Download the file from Stripe and says where to put it. Then click Recheck. We can help your web person with this.
Clicking Disconnect stops new bookings and refunds working until Stripe is connected again. Only use it if you mean to.
